Off the field:
Created the David Wright Foundation in 2005 to raise awareness for different charities.
Held the First Annual "Do the Wright Thing" dinner on Dec. 11, 2005, with proceeds going to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Was a guest on the Late Show With David Letterman on July 12, 2006.
Participated in Major League Baseball's All-Star Tour of Japan in November 2006.
Was invited to dinner at the White House with President George W. Bush along with other baseball players, including Trevor Hoffman on Feb. 5, 2007
The David Wright Foundation
The David Wright Foundation is a charitable, tax exempt 501(c)3 organization founded in 2005 by David Wright of the New York Mets. The sole purpose and mission of the foundation is to provide financial support and raise awareness for those in need and to financially support other charitable organizations. The foundation pays special attention to Multiple Sclerosis and children's causes, and maintains its focus on the New York City and Norfolk, Virginia metropolitan areas.
